Our story, our mission, our values

Pacific Assist Samoa Trust (PAST) is a charitable organisation committed to improving the wellbeing and future opportunities of vulnerable individuals and communities. We work alongside government agencies, community leaders, churches, educational institutions, donors, and development partners to deliver sustainable programmes that strengthen protection, education, human rights, and community wellbeing.

PAST was founded by a group of dedicated women and community advocates who recognised the urgent need for long-term support, protection, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities for vulnerable individuals. They witnessed how many survivors, particularly young women and children, often returned to environments where challenges persist.

Fuimaono Fesolai Maiava Paugata Makerita Anae Roberts-Ah Sue is the founder and director of Pacific Assist Samoa Trust (PAST). Her deeply personal commitment to protect children and empower communities laid the foundation for our organisation.

Our priority areas include:

• Shelter and protection: Providing safety, refuge, advocacy, and practical support for vulnerable individuals, victims of crime, and families experiencing hardship.
• Education pathways: Supporting access to education, scholarships, mentoring, and lifelong learning opportunities.
• Human rights and counselling: Promoting dignity, justice, healing, and protection through counselling, advocacy, and awareness programmes.
• Community wellbeing: Strengthening individuals, families, and communities through education, prevention, and resilience-building initiatives.
• Climate justice and resilience: Supporting Pacific communities to respond to environmental and climate challenges through education and advocacy.
